She here is the skinny of what I alluded to in the Sunday Indulgences post:
In the comics, Jess and Clint have been having a thing since the end of Siege, so a few months comic time. I'm not a fan of the pairing but there it is. Some writers are having them clearly dating, others a nebulous she's his friend-girl, but she has definitely been thinking of them as a couple.

In the recent Hawkeye solo series, he slept with someone and she found out. Pissed she confronts him and seemingly breaks up with him. I don't want to do anything definite until next issue as there was some vagueness as to if he tries to get her back.

If it does prove that they are no longer an item, I was thinking Jess could have an EP where she basically says, "Clint Barton is an ass", thus catching Natasha's attention. Mistaken ID hijinks ensue.

Ahahahah, could be fun! Nat's going to be very confused, and go 'either it's Alternate Universe* or you are a SHIELD agent from my world which means wtf, professional discretion'. Either way, if Jessica recognizes her, cue one master-spy flailing in her head as who are you *giggling*.

Which reminds me! How much does movie!verse Nat look like comics!Nat? Movie!Nat seems to be shorter, hour-glass instead of athletic, with wavy/curly hair instead of straight. Do you want to play with those differences in appearance at all?



*she's a sci-fi geek, and has been since about the 30s. In some ways, M'ways is fairly easy for her to get a handle on. Ish.

I think it is awesome that you have Natasha being a sci-fi geek. =]

As to how Natasha looks, I figure it's up to you. I know the comics are trying to capitalize on the movie by realigning a lot of things, like Nick Fury and Natasha having a debt from her days working for the KGB.

I actually figure Nat's debt/the red on her ledger ISN'T her KGB days at all - she's doing exactly the same kind of work for SHIELD. So it doesn't make sense in my head that it's okay simply because someone else is holding her leash, you know? (If she felt that badly about spying and killing in general, she'd be an aid-worker). But, yeah, I've noticed people complaining that MU is aligning to MCU (I'm strictly an MCU-girl, with articles from the MU to supplement).

Hmmm. I think the height and figure are different (movie!Nat is just....short and busty. Not as short as her actor, but she's short; comics is not), but the face is similar enough to be twins.

And! I just ran it all by Clint Barton-mun, given the whole set-up - she was wondering if you could put up an OOC note saying that Jessica is not referring to the Clint Barton in bar at all? (She'd also generally prefer if Jessica not name her ex in the EP itself (just in the threads), to reduce confusion from casual Milliways skimmers, but at least the OOC note would be awesome :D )

Oh good ideas! I will save the "Damn Barton" for the thread with an OOC comment in the original post to the effect of "Jessica is upset with the comic Hawkeye and not the Hawkeye who comes to bar."

Marvel's wiki states Natasha is 5'7" and I remember she trained as a ballerina as a child, so I imagine she might have maintained a wiry build from that. I don't know to be honest. = ]

And ahahh, yeah, exactly (or rather: Comics!Natasha was trained as a ninja, but then thought she was a ballerina - but details. She's still got that build, and MCU!Nat really doesn't.) So MCU!Nat could be comics!Nat slightly shorter, curvy twin? I think that could work.

Leading to it. I want to wait until at least the next issue of Hawkeye to see if he tries to make up with Jess before I decide what her reaction is.

Plus I might work some character development into it as she's been too mopey in my head.

Heya, just a quick note! I'm not familiar with Michael's canon, so I'm not sure how much he knows of Russia? But if he's familiar with it, Nat's accent is fairly distinctive, and there are a number of large cities in the area where she's from (her home-town, Volgograd, is the kind of big that regularly appears on simplified maps).

So, while I've tagged back, if you'd rather Michael didn't make that slip-up, I'm more than happy to change :-)

Michael was (is... sort of) a spy and spent several years all over Russia for the CIA and knows several regional dialects. He'd totally pick up on that. I'm just an idiot at times. Hah.

I have some time off this week, which means it is a perfect opportunity to visit everyone in the cells! I chatted with Aspen about our plans for the timeline, as Fury is after Natasha but before Bucky.

Any goals you have for such a conversation, or anything you want NOT to happen?

No goals in mind, I like seeing how things go. Natasha really wants to talk to him about what Bucky said in their solo-thread, about Pierce (not that Bucky named him), but she's not doing that a) in front of Bucky and b) until she's done her own investigation a bit more. Admittedly if Fury asks WHY she's in the cells, she'd...probably give him the most honest answer (i.e. Winter threatened her, and she wasn't just protecting herself, but anyone else in SHIELD in-bar.) (although let's face it, there was a bit of panicked reaction there, too, but shhhhhhhh)

Anything I'd like NOT - no mention of what goes down in Avengers? Natasha is the kind of person who'd put everything she could into trying to avoid that, and I think Fury is well aware of that. FORTUNATELY her hair is too long for her to be past-Avengers, so that's a visual tell of its own.

Other than that, I'm perfectly fine just playing it by ear! :-)

Yeah, he won't be mentioning anything about Avengers activities. He knows he already fucked up with Barnes. And everything that happened to New York was horrible, but it could have been SO MUCH WORSE. So he will cross his fingers and let it roll out as it will.

Would you like to have a joint thread with Bucky? I believe he's not gonna do much but stare at Fury and wonder why he isn't dead, but I could be wrong...

Ahah, yeeeep. Particularly if Natasha gets wind of what happens to Clint... *makes a face* Lady is a tad bit irrational when it comes to Barton.

I think a joint thread works! And we just stay in communication to keep the order/or tags get out of order due to reactions, etc. I suspect Nat and Bucky would be watching each other with Fury too close for separate threads.
